How long did it take the embassy to process your visa?

Hi, guys! I want to leave for Ireland end of this month, but my plans are last-minute and I am sending out my application for a lay volunteer visa tomorrow morning. So I'd love to know - when you got your visa, how long did it take?

I called the consulate and asked if I could just go for 90 days and then apply for an extended visa while in Ireland, but they said I had to be in my home country to do that. :/

Well, if I don't get my visa in time (...at least, I hope they return my passport in time!!) then I guess I'm just going for three months! :D

Thanks for any input!
Sarah

Hello,

I hope i won't sound like an alcoholic but more like someone discovering the good specialities of Ireland.

So, do you think it's possible to learn how to make stout beer ? Do you know a wwoof host or a local brewery ?

Thanks

I thought it might be helpful to share my experience with long term WWOOFing for future WWOOFers.

Look for training course with persons handicapped person

Submitted by liza Riowal on Tue, 20/09/2011 - 07:24

hello,

My name is Liza Riowal and I am twenty two years old, currently studying Education, specialising in psycho/educational accopaniment at the Haute Ecole de Bruxelles Defré in Belgium.

In the second year, we have the opportunity to do a two month placement abroad, officially from mid-january 2012 to mid-march 2012. I would welcome the opportunity of linking this internship to an experience abroad. I would like making my training course in a farm which welcomes persons handicapped person or in a deficient(weak) community of persons.

Hi there

I would like to sort out a few grey areas in my mind. So could people share with me what they know about the following; Is insurance absolutely necessary when wwoofing, if i am a holder of a European medical card?
Also has anyone dealt with a person who is claiming social welfare? Is it possible to work for hosts if signing on?

bex

Planning to WWOOF ahead of time

Submitted by Leanne Hill on Fri, 02/09/2011 - 19:09

I am attempting to plan the next year of my life and am hoping to include an extended stay in Ireland next summer or fall. I want to be able to plan my trip around wwoofing but it appears that many hosts are not interested in planning extremely far in advance. I will be coming from the US so I want to know well ahead of time if I have a place/ places to wwoof. Any insight or experience on this matter would be appreciated- thanks!

winter in ireland

I'm a little worried about going to Ireland in the winter. I know it will be cold and rainy, which I'm not as worried about--it's better than frigid and snowy, in my book. What I am worried about is sunlight. What is a typical winter in Ireland like? It's not like I won't see the sun at all for three months is it? I've never gotten particularly depressed during the winter before, but we get a bunch of sunny days even if it is freezing. Should I be concerned?
