Update on volunteers' liability insurance
Hello, Is there an update on volunteers' liability insurance from OV Europe. Apparently worldnomads.com and volunteerscard.com don't cover Wwoofers from certain countries with the same coverage. I'm continually asked where to go and I'm not sure what will cover them to volunteer in Ireland. Any suggestions would be gratefully received. Best, Carina
Where are all the Woofers !
Although I have been a host for just less than two years and I'm not exactly a seasoned hand I've noticed a dramatic drop in woofer availability . I haven't hosted anyone here since September and they were returning visitors from the previous year . I understand that you don't get the kind of numbers this time of year as you would get in the Summer but I got woofers last year throughout the Winter . I have found that generally the type of people that you get in the "off season " are better , more mature and know what there about . Is there less woofers joining , more hosts or what ?
Look for training course with nobody handicaped
hello,
My name is Liza Riowal and I am twenty two years old, currently studying Education, specialising in psycho/educational accopaniment at the Haute Ecole de Bruxelles Defré in Belgium.
In the second year, we have the opportunity to do a two month placement abroad, officially from mid-january 2012 to mid-march 2012. I would welcome the opportunity of linking this internship to an experience abroad. I would like making my training course in a farm which welcomes persons handicapped person or in a deficient(weak) community of persons.
Food
Hey Hosts,
I'm curious to know how other hosts feed their wwoofers. I love cooking, but since hosting I am spending more time in the kitchen and less in the garden. That's not necessarily a bad thing because we are all eating very well but any ideas on how to make feeding wwoofers easy? Anyone have and Irish WWOOF cookbook started?

What makes a person a good wwoofer?
Hi there.
I've read all the topics here, and I now see many wwoof hosts have problems with irresponsible wwoofers. As one of the wwoofers registered, I feel sorry and really sad that's happening.
I'm wondering what it takes to be a good wwoofer besides honouring commitments. What kind of wwoofers do you want to have? What do you expect from them? Do you prefer someone with good english, someone experienced in farming? Do you want them to go out on their day off rather than stay in their room?
Average WWOOFer ages
Just curious as to what the average woofing age is in Ireland. Is there many young kids volunteering or many older adults.
Thanks
Farms that might have hay bailing?
Hello to all
I am from Ladner British Columbia and do not know much about farms in Ireland but I plan to. Would anyone know a farm in southern Ireland I can do WWOOFing at that includes alot of hay bailing in the general farm labour?
Bad weather
Can anyone give advice regarding what to do when the weather is bad. We are currently hosting our first Wwoofer and agreed that she would work 3 or 4 full days with one or two half days and a couple of days off which would all be flexible. The last two weeks we have had awful weather with very high winds and whilst I would expect a Wwoofer to work in the rain (in waterproofs) this recent weather was very intense and the Wwoofer ended up sitting indoors (under our feet) and consequently I don't feel we had a fair exchange.
How long do we wait
Hi all
We had a volunteer confirm in the middle of Jan that he was coming to stay here from March 1st - April 16th, he was coming from America, so far no show, I emailed him yesterday to find out what the story is so am awaiting a response, however if we hear nothing back, how long should we wait before giving up on him? We have other people getting in touch wanting to come and stay and we need the help!
We had no contact number from him but he did seem to be looking forward to coming, any advice??
Brid
