Amanda is a teacher and Peter is an artist/designer. We live on a sheltered 2 acre site where we have vegetables, fruit, herbs, trees and garden areas for our own use. We have been developing our land using sustainable methods since 2002. There is a polytunnel, raised bed areas, ponds and gardens. WWOOFers have helped us since 2006 and we are still in touch with many of them. Tasks are varied - mostly experiencing the ongoing battle to tame the weeds and keep the soil fertile. You will learn a little of what has to be done to change difficult land into something approaching self sufficiency. Help with cooking is welcome, but optional, and we have now experienced many international dishes! This is a beautiful area near to the sea and spectacular walks around the Sheep's Head peninsular. We offer comfortable rooms in our house living as a member of the family, sharing whatever needs to be done. In the summer (June - September) this is a lively place with a friendly pub just up the road and there are often other WWOOFers nearby. At other times things are quieter.
