Travel by Bus
There is a good network of bus routes covering all regions of Ireland. Bus Eireann is the main operator in the Republic of Ireland and there are also smaller local companies in some areas. Bus Eireann has a useful 'Journey Planner' on its website. There are also international links with Eurolines that can be booked from the Bus Eireann website, offering connections with countries in Europe. For bus travel within Northern Ireland see Translink.
Travel by train
The rail network only links major cities in Ireland. It is quicker than travelling by bus but often more expensive. The network is run by Irish rail (Iarnród Éireann) in the Republic of Ireland and NI Railways in Northern Ireland

Travel by Air
We cannot encourage air travel within Ireland due to its environmental damage. There are good transport connections from points of arrival such as Dublin, Cork, Shannon and Belfast airports.

Hostels
Most larger towns and cities are well served by reasonably priced hostels. See An Óige - Irish Youth Hostel Association, Hostelling International Northern Ireland and others listed on Google. If you find a good hostel and want to recommend it, post a comment here!
Visas and entry requirements
You MUST be sure that you meet all visa and entry requirements before travelling, especially if you have a passport from a country outside the European Economic Area. We have provided guidance notes in the 'FAQ' section of the site.

Important information for non-European WWOOFers
There is some important information if you are NOT from a European/Schengen Area country in the FAQ section of this site.
This is especially important if you are travelling via the UK (even if only transferring flights at a UK airport). Please read the information very carefully and contact us if you need to. It is your responsibility to check that you meet the requirements for entry at UK and Irish airports and other places of entry. If you don't meet ALL the requirements you may be sent home at your own expense and that can be a very distressing experience for all concerned.
