Hello,

I've posted this on the Noticeboard as well, but I was just wondering if anyone had any advice or could suggest any references for how to repair stone walls - specifically using flat slate, not the large rounded stones. There are some trees that were planted too close to a wall and their roots recently destabilized the foundation of the wall.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Malachy Orozco

Hi,
You could try getting in touch with Bob Wilson from CELT http://www.celtnet.org/ for advice or get him to come help.

Hi Malachy,

Theres a great book on stone walls by Patrick _______ called stone walls. Basic rules is stager the joints put one stone in the middle on top of two stones and every meter put in a throgh tone. Make sure no stones rock when they are laying flat wedge them with slips of stones. Hard to teach it without being there to give you a hand.

Sheila
