County: Antrim
Image uploaded by user Ballylagan Organic Farm

BOOKED UP UNTIL THE AUTUMN. Ballylagan Organic Farm in County Antrim was one of the pioneering organic farms in Northern Ireland. Today, with 120 acres, the business is still expanding and we currently produce beef, lamb, pork, chicken, duck, eggs and vegetables for sale through our farm shop. We are looking for individuals or groups of wwoofers keen to experience a diverse farming life. New ideas and enthusiasm will go a long way! Modern, hostel style accommodation is adjacent to the farm house with all mod cons including internet connection, television as well as kitchen, shower room and lounge area. Vegetarian or carnivorous, much of what you eat will have been produced on the farm. We have a couple of bicycles for ventures into the nearby towns and villages. For longer journeys, public transport is available to Belfast, along the Antrim Coast and further afield. Tasks will involve weeding, fruit and veg picking, routine animal management and general farm maintenance. This is a perfect opportunity for those wanting a place to stay and work with a view to further exploring Ireland. We look forward to hearing from you.

CURRENTLY NO VACANCIES. Our family run farm is located on the only island off N. Ireland. The farm is an Area of Special Scientific Interest, with 2 historic monuments. We have cows, sheep, pigs, hens and have recently installed a polytunnel. The island is rich in culture and tradition with unspoilt views of ireland and scotland. Its a fantastic place for anyone interested in walking and wildlife with easy access to the mainland. We are looking for enthusiastic people, who can work by themselves after some direction. Experience of painting, gardening, general maintenance would be benefical. Minimum of 2 weeks stay, this location would suit a couple or two friends.

We have a beef suckler herd and small sheep flock on a hill farm, located on a small off-shore island. Historic island family (mainly adults), involved in many aspects of island life including fishing (plenty of seafood), wildlife conservation,(puffins), visitors (camping barn), and community (events and activities). Adaptability and patience are requirements - with weather and tides the main determinators of work at any given time. WWOOFers are given the opportunity to experience life as we live it. Usually meals are taken together, (meat and/or vege. but specialist supplies are not easy to come by here). Sleeping may be in caravan, dorm, tent or house - the best available.

County: Cavan
Radharc Na Cuilagh (Cuilcagh view)

This particular elevated peaceful site is remotely set with idyllic panoramic views of the Cuilcagh Mountains in West Cavan. Located closely to the picuresque village of Bawnboy and neighbouring Swanlinbar, this area is popular with fisherman, walkers and hikers. Swanlinbar is located in a beautiful region, dominated by steep mountains with Bawnboy being surrounded by many lakes. The site itself comprises of a small cottage with circa 4 acres of land with two large sheds plus an almost complete bakery. Accommodation will be in the form of a private double bedroom in the very comfortable cottage that retains many of its key original features. Assistance will be required with bedding plants, feeding animals (varied fowl, pigs and donkey), cultivating land, chopping wood, building poly tunnels and chicken runs. In addition, assistance will also be required with the general upkeep and maintaining organically grown fruit and vegetables. If you are after an opportunity to develop your organic skill with the added benefit of experiencing tranquillity with beautiful views then look no futher!

Glen ni Sídh

We are six miles from the Northern Ireland border - 20 miles from Enniskillen. Glen ni Shee has goats, horses, chickens, guinea fowl, a duck, an organic herb and vegetable garden, three kids, two adults (one English, one Italian.) Isabella is also a reflexologist and massage therapist. The household is vegetarian. We need assistance with the gardens, animals, outbuilding upkeep and maintenance work. Please contact us by phone. We rarely get to a computer and our small holding is in a dip in hills so that internet connection is not easy. If you ring and give us your number we will ring you back to discuss booking.

County: Donegal
Dungavida

The site is associated with the legends of Balar and Tua de Dannann. Cottage renovation is ongoing - working slowly and carefully. The Organic Garden is a work in progress. Located close to Falcarragh Village in North West Donegal - next to miles of sandy beaches. I work as head gardener at Glenveagh Castle. Interests include Buddhism, Art, Ethnobotany and the history of Ireland from 500 BC to 700 AD

We have pigs which are reared out doors, grass fed beef cattle, vegetables, herbs and a farm shop in the nearby town. We also have goats and donkeys, and work together with other local small-holders to supply the farm shop with top quality fruit, veg and meat. You would be based here, but may have jobs to do at various locations. Accomodation is in either a caravan, stone cabin with woodburning stove, wooden chalet, or room in house. There is no internet available in the house, but you may have access to Broadband in the shop most evenings. Our farm is a relaxed and happy place to be, the cats and dogs love lots of visitors (especially if you can kick a ball). There is always plenty to do, plenty to eat and drink and scenery to die for!

We have a smallholding of roughly five acres with the same again rented. We keep rare breed free range pigs, horses, goats chickens and ducks. We are currently awaiting on arrival of a large polytunnel so we can begin planting our vegetables. We began our smallholding four years ago and are expanding every year trying to add more rare breed animals to our wee farm. Our smallholding is located in the Gaoth Dobhair Gaeltacht (Irish speaking) area with the Derryveagh mountains on one side of us and the atlantic ocean on the other, the area is very beautiful and there are many opportunities to hear Irish traditional music with two regular music sessions and set dancing on wednesday night. We usually expect our volunteers to help us for about five hours a day, you will be provided with breakfast, lunch and dinner, evenings and weekends are free We do not cater for vegetarians as we raise our own animals for the table.

Greenhill Farm is a small organic beginning at the very top of Ireland. For a few years now, we have been learning how grow vegetables using organic methods. Along the way we have met other people who would like to learn more about organic issues too, so we do our best to answer any questions we're asked, and if we can't we know a lot of people who can! We grow vegetables for sale locally to shops, markets and to the public, on a North facing slope full of stones.(we like a challenge!) We host WWOOFers in the Summer because the work we do is very time consuming, digging, planting, sowing, cropping and so on. We also like to get help with ongoing projects, like building, hedgecutting and landscaping, so people with experience of building, carpentry or any other type of construction are always needed.
