Tipperary Mountain Trekking Centre At Tipperary Mountain Trekking Centre we have access to hundreds of acres of unspoiled natural mountain pastures (which are farmed organically) for pony trekking, riding and horsemanship lessons. We are dedicated to natural horsemanship techniques in the training and management of horses and riders and committed to environmentally sustainable farming, cuisine and tourism.
Wwoofers who stay with us will predominantly be helping with land and stable management. If you have not worked with horses before you should be aware that the work is physically exhausting and invoves long and irregular hours. Experienced equestrians may get the opportunity to assist with the training and schooling of our youngsters but please do not exaggerate your skills with horses - your horsemanship will be obvious to us when you walk in the yard and we don't give free riding holidays. That said, we are in the equestrian tourism business because we love meeting like-minded people from all over the world and if you share our values there are plenty of ways to get involved here. |

Sue's Place 110 year old Irish cottage on the foothills of the beautiful Sliabh na mBan; (Mountain of the Woman's Spirit) I have a vegetable garden; growing veggies, herbs and flowers all together in harmony with nature. A wild garden, small field and have just put up a big polytunnel. There is a flock of laying hens, 7 geese (my environmentally friendly lawn mowers) goat Modra and her kid Spirit, Blue my Angel dog, 3 cats, Charlie, Rudolph and Pip Squeak and 1 quail. Next door live my daughter, her husband and their family; Theo 13 and Meg 8. I would love help in the gardens, with the animals and with anything that is happening. This can include gardening, building a woodshed, getting the winters' fuel or helping me get ready for a workshop as I teach Reiki/Angel/Healing/Golden Atlantis/2012 & Beyond/Lemurian Crystal Healing Workshops. This Autumn I would love help planting the field with fruit trees and making it into the most wonderful orchard. In return I would like you to experience family life on the mountain, with plenty of good food. Learn some of the old ways of living in harmony with nature; making bread, jam, preserves, yogurt, and a self-sufficient way of life. |

Cloughjordan Community Farm (Greetings! We are pretty much booked out this year, but due to some cancellations we currently have space on the following dates; May 7th - June 25th, September 3rd - 30th. Thanks!)
This is a Community Supported Agriculture project, which means that food is produced here for a closed group of members (currently around 50 families and rising)who pay a weekly fee. The farm is run on Biodynamic principles, and comprises 26.5 acres, 4 acres of which is devoted to vegetable growing. We also grow a variety of cereals mostly as fodder for our Kerry cows, Shetland sheep, Saddleback pigs and a flock of hens.
Lily, the farm manager, lives on-site with her family. Wwoofers will be staying in a house in the the local village, Cloughjordan, which is about a mile and a half away. Wwoofers will be collected in the village at milk-delivery time, around 9am, and driven back in the afternoon around 4pm.
Cloughjordan has good traditional Irish music nights in Grace`s bar, yoga, pottery,a good bookshop/cafe, a small cine-club, table-tennis and a nice beech wood forest for walks and cycling. |

McAleese Family We are Jennie, Johnny, Finan (3yrs(nearly 4!)) and Meabh (1 year). Dan the dog, Elly and Azzy the cats, roosters x 2 and hens x 5 live here also.
We have recently renovated our house and need some help restoring the mature garden - fruit trees, fruit bushes, herb patch, vegetable patches and polytunnel. Garden work includes, weeding, sowing, planting, digging, strimming, some help with heavy lifting of stones etc. involved. Future projects outside include panting the cottage & out-buildings, preparing for ducks (!) and building compost bins. We have some painting and decorating in the house left to do which we also need help with.
We have found that someone (or a couple who don't mind sharing a bed) who enjoy sharing a meal and a story and getting involved with busy day to day family life get on best here with us. Our children are demanding and we can be too!!! We enjoy having peolple to stay with us but appreciate that everyone needs a bit of time out. Accommodation is a cosy one bed cottage next to the house.
There is a good rail network from Thurles town. |
