Hosts in Connacht...

County: Galway
Image uploaded by user Lyser Land

11 acres of land which is VERY isolated and (really) in the middle of nowhere. We work very hard here but have fun too! In organic conversion, so lots to do! The polytunnel and kitchen garden are a priority, with weeding (we eat most of the weeds), planting, walling, outbuilding repair, bird watching, deer watching, lime washing, lime and hemping, pond clearing, reed bed laying, and working at the bog (google it!). General 'adventure' wwoofing while having fun! There is a lot of heavy work to be done and we work outside in all weathers. There are 2 donkeys, 3 cats, a dog and 11 ducks and a good few thousand bees! The dog loves to play so you must be a dog lover! Sleeping accomodation is outside in benders or camping (in your own tent) with use of the house and facilities, a bit rough and ready but warm and welcoming. You really must be self-motivated and have initiative! You must be comfortable to work alone if we're at work. Stays over 3 weeks prefered.

woodlawn farm

Separate accommodation provided for wwoofers in comfortable and warm two bedroom bungalow with cooking facilities, bathroom etc.Nice deck area and living space. Internet will be arranged. IN a couple of weeks i will be in conversion with one of the certifying bodies, I am new to this but very enthusiastic about the organic ethos, i will be working with my father who has been a farmer of cows all my life. Animals that i have at the moment are cows, pygmy goats, cat, dogs, pony, donkey, potbellied pigs. hours will be flexible and many tasks can be done in your own time so there will be plenty of oppertunity to get out and about and see the country. We want to make this place as self sustaining as possible and i hope that we will grow most of our own food soon.

We,Helmut and Irmtraud, are looking for one or two people, staying with us to join in the Art of Gardening with everything from preparing the beds with seaweed gathered from the shore and compost from the compost heaps to seeding the vegetables, weeding and care of the garden, the polytunnel and chickens and of course celebrating the harvests! We also grow many flowers and harvest the Callendula(marigold) to make oil.. Jobs for a rainy day include learning how to make spelt bread and delicious meals, some household chores and some maintenance work. We invite volunteers to take part in life at the Lodge and to enjoy learning Organic Gardening. We tend and care for our garden in a spiritual way and are not just growing vegetables! There are other projects we work on when the garden needs no care such as creating our winter garden, building ponds, harvesting rainwater methods, building walls and creating art projects. The lodge is a place for You to come to and explore a wholesome, creative and happy way of life among friends. We are also interested in finding a carpenter, maybe also retired or someone else experienced in timber work.

I run a small falafel stall on the Traditional galway market. The aim is to grow as many ingredients as possible and as such to create a sustainable food business. Once again I'm starting a new and exciting project for the next 5 years. With the help of three enthusiastic woofers this year we have build a very productive garden in the space of a couple of months. Now the new project comprises of 6 acres and a walled garden, the property is an old manor house with a very timeless feel next to the legendary hill of the fairies 'knock ma'. Tasks will include: building of poly tunnels, tending pigs, building chicken tractors, building compost toilet, finishing woofer accommodation, preparing falafel for the weekends and lots of seeding, planting, clearing land etc. you will be expected to do 5 days a week with 2 days off. I will be able to host people from December onwards. I'm looking for people with own initiative and input and ideas. Your accommodation is own bedroom with fireplace and toilet. If i don't get back to you straight away don't worry it's because of the amount of applicants i will get back to you as soon as i can, I'm looking forward to your replies. flo

Our small Organic Farm is situated in West Connemara right by the sea. We grow soft fruit, herbs and vegetables what we sell to local restaurantes and some shops. Our helpers need to stay more than 2 weeks at a time to get used to the work.Gardening is not exciting but can be satisfying if you are motivated and dont mind getting your hands dirty. We live simple, recycle what we can, safe electricity with our windmill, and water when we can.We keep some chickens, rabbits, ducks and 2 cats called Tom end Cherry. We also have 5 beehives to look after, in case anyone is alergic to bees. The offer is 3 wholesome meals a day , a caravan or a cabin-type room, for 30 hours work a week. Weekends can be spend on the beach, cycling, walking,or riding in the nearby riding centre. We work hard and dont ask our helpers to do anything we wouldnt do. There is a bus going to town almost every day or we can give you a lift when we go, but we are not a taxi service.English and German are spoken. You need to have reasonably good English for communicating tasks. You will learn and enjoy it. We prefere people who are really interested in Horticulture, Permaculture and Organic growing.

Our site is very small, about 1/4 acre in size including the house and poly tunnel. We are growing vegetables to feed ourselves trying to live as sustainably as possible. We have erected a poly tunnel and also have a little veg garden at the back door of the house, which is a small cottage, and a small greenhouse where we start off some of the plants. We hope to clear more of the land and build raised beds to make full use of it for growing vegetables, herbs and fruit bushes and we also hope to install some chickens. We are looking for people to come and visit who are GENUINELY interested in sustainable living and who are motivated, handy, practical and willing to get stuck in.We don't mind if you are inexperienced but we cannot tolerate laziness. Some work will be hard - lifting stones and digging; boring- weeding or a new experience such as woodwork. I own and run a health shop in Clifden. My husband Lol is an artist and a musician. We share our home with our daughter, a dog and three cats.

Here at Crannog we run a small organic farm stroke alternative workshop centre. We have horses, dogs, cats and chickens soon to arrive. We grow alot of our own food in pollytunnels and glasshouse. Marion is a yoga teacher, she teaches locally and here at home, also manages the garden. Flor paints signs and recycles creatively. We have solar powered hot water, and wind powered electric, internet access and mountain bikes. We often have interesting workshops happening here, from building windmills to learning bushcraft skills or journeying with a shaman. Wwoofers are encouraged to develop lots of skills and become part of our extended family as we move through the seasons. Gort is 15 mins. from crannog, and is the gateway to the burren national park, which has a wonderful reputation among botanists and hill walkers internationally. Galway which is 45 mins. from Gort, and also attracts people from all over the world to enjoy its many festivals and friendly folk.
